History

Our School

Tynsel Parkes CE Primary Academy is a co-educational day school, in partnership with Staffordshire University Academies Trust, catering for pupils between the ages of three and nine.  It is situated in the Market Town of Uttoxeter in Staffordshire and was built in 1968.  We offer spacious classroom accomodation and the school has close links with St. Mary’s church, Uttoxeter and the local community.

Tynsel Parkes has approximately 180 children who are taught in mixed ability classes within the age range of 3-9 years.  The children are in care of their class teacher who is responsible for their welfare and education.  At Tynsel Parkes we try, wherever possible, to support a class with a teaching assistant.

Children start their journey of a full-time education here in the September after their 4th birthday.  The route through their primary career is a year in the following classes:- Reception, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3 and Year 4.

At Tynsel Parkes we are fortunate to have a designated Nursery, which provides excellent early years provision.  Children can start their Nursery education on a part-time basis the September after their 3rd birthday.  The nursery sessions run every morning and afternoon.

Working alongside our school nursery we have “The TP”. This provision is run by the school and led by the school Governors.  It offers nursery parents more flexibility when using their NEG funding.  In addition, “The TP” offers all our families wraparound care at the beginning and end of the school day and a lunchtime club for nursery children.

We believe that a child’s work is play and with this in mind , structured activities are planned, prepared and delivered focusing on the specific needs of our youngest children.  We have extensive grounds  and all key stages have their own play areas providing safe, secure environments which support positive social interaction.
