Religious Education (RE)
At Tynsel Parkes the RE curriculum is delivered through the delivery of the resource ‘Understanding Christianity’. (See year group curriculum overviews for the different areas covered.) Through teaching Understanding Christianity it will enable children to:
- know about and understand Christianity as a living world faith
- enable children to develop the knowledge and skills in making sense of Bible stories and how these impact on the lives of Christians
- have a growing understanding of the different religions and beliefs of the world in which we live.
Personal, Social, Health Education (PSHE) and Relationships and Sex Education (RSE)
The aim of PSHE education is to provide pupils with:
- accurate, balanced and relevant knowledge
- opportunities to develop knowledge into personal understanding
- opportunities to explore, clarify and if necessary challenge their own and others’ values, attitudes, beliefs, rights and responsibilities
- the skills, language and strategies they need to live healthy, safe, responsible and balanced lives
- opportunities to develop positive personal attributes such as resilience, self-confidence, self-esteem and empathy.
At Tynsel Parkes PSHE is delivered through weekly lessons following the PSHE overview and activities that link to our academy’s core Christian values.
