Safeguarding Children and Young People from Harm or Neglect

Tynsel Parkes CE Primary Academy is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expects all staff, Local Academy Council Members and volunteers to share this commitment.

We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, links to these policies can be found below.

We listen to our pupils and take seriously what they tell us. All school staff are trained in Child Protection, and children are made aware of the adults they can talk to if they have any concerns. Staff are trained to look out for signs of physical/emotional harm or neglect and are required to report these to the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) or Deputy Safeguarding Lead if the Designated Lead is not available at that time.

Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with parents and carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.

We actively support the Government’s Prevent Agenda to counter radicalisation and extremism.

Safeguarding and Child Protection Procedures – who to contact

You may be worried and concerned about a child or young person. You may or may not know them, or even their name. Child protection is everyone’s responsibility. Don’t assume that someone else will take responsibility and make that telephone call. Please speak a member from our safeguarding team about your concerns or alternatively phone Staffordshire Children’s Advice & Support Service- Tel: 0300 111 8007 (select option 1)
