World Book Day 2025 – The children at Tynsel Parkes had a fantastic World Book day. Not only did we all dress up (and how fab did the children look?!) but we looked at how reading can be fun for all. In assembly, Mr Baxter spoke to us about creating special places to read. The children had some great ideas, such as cosy areas in the house, but also some more extreme places such as reading on a rollercoaster! We also learned how reading does not just mean long books, but also other forms of writing such as poems, comics, recipes and online texts! In class, we looked at illustrators of books and created our own book illustrations that will go on display in the hall. Other activities included online lessons from authors, writing book reviews, making bookmarks and singing songs about books too. We hope children enjoyed World Book Day as a celebration of reading and hope that the fun activities help the children to have a passion for reading throughout the year.
We would like to say a big thank you to all the families who supported the children by making or purchasing amazing costumes on Thursday.
