The Tynsel Parkes School Council is made up of two elected representatives from every class in both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. These pupils act as the voice of their classmates, sharing suggestions, concerns, and ideas about school life. Mrs. Wilcock meets with the council every two weeks to guide discussions and help the children explore practical ways to improve the school. Through this process, pupils learn responsibility, teamwork, and how their contributions can make a positive difference to the whole school community.

What is the purpose of our School Council?

  1. To allow the children at Tynsel Parkes C.E. Primary Academy to have a voice and to enjoy their right as stated in Article 12 of the UNCRC, which states that they have the right to express their views, feelings and wishes in all matters affecting them, and to have their views considered and taken seriously
  2. To help the school and community be a better place
  3. To help to improve learning in the school
  4. To raise funds for the school

What do we expect from our School Councillors?

All School Council members must:

  • be respectful and listen to others
  • contribute or participate actively in meetings
  • follow the school rules and be role models to other pupils
  • model good behaviour at all times
  • be polite and courteous to others
  • not refer to specific individuals or groups during discussions
  • use their position on School Council to support and develop their school and peers and not abuse this position in any way

We look forward to sharing our successes and news with you as the year progresses!
